Hello my lovely readers,
Instead of a process video I decided to go through my paintings on my computer and choose some of my favourites. I wanted to know why I liked these particular paintings that I did. What was I drawn to and could it help me progress in my art journey.
I sincerely hope this isn’t like a friend showing photos of their holiday where they go on and on ( wanting to share of course) but where you start to lose interest at some point. Please forgive me if this is the case.
I’ve looked through sketchbooks before trying to do the same exercise but it is not the same. Here the pictures can be compared more easily rather than flicking pages back and forth.
As I only started painting in 2018 there weren’t as many paintings as someone who has a bigger body of work but even so it was quite hard to do. I had to be quite ruthless in my selection. There are 25 photos of my work that I go through in the video.
This video will go up on my you tube in the next week but on here it is advert free.
The key elements I picked out were:
Limited palette
pen and wash
simple uncluttered pictures where there is clear focus
looseness in style - not too tight
blurred background with something jumping out at the front
What do you think, did I miss something, let me know.
Best wishes
Michelle
